Allinto Senior Support Coordinator, Dan Dare has connected with new and existing regional clients during a road trip across South West Queensland.
Dan was born in Thargomindah and currently lives in Roma, so he understands the barriers facing NDIS participants living in rural and remote locations.
“Coming from a smaller community, I have witnessed first–hand the challenges that can stem from a lack of accessible support,” said Dan.
“In completing this road trip, I wanted to connect with people who need support and reassure them that there are service providers available to help in regional areas.”
During his travels, Dan visited Charleville, Cunnamulla, Thargomindah and Quilpie before returning to Roma.
He met with nine existing clients, three new clients and has since connected another two regional NDIS participants with Allinto’s services.
“It was a fantastic result,” said Dan. “Having face–to–face conversations helps build positive relationships and contributes to establishing trust when supporting clients with their goals.”
A highlight of Dan’s trip was visiting the Cunnamulla Aboriginal Corporation for Health (CACH), an independent, self-governing and community controlled Indigenous organisation providing health services in Cunnamulla and its surrounds.
“I was absolutely blown away by their facility,” said Dan. “They host a rotation of health professionals and do day trips out to smaller communities. The work they do is incredible.”
Allinto Regional Lead, Courtney Falknau said she was proud to see Dan going above and beyond to help those struggling to find the right NDIS services.
“We really want to ensure people have access to the support they need, no matter where they are,” said Courtney.
